Congratulations to all of the cyclists in the KordaMentha Real Estate Australian National Teams who rode hard during the 2020 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race.

“We are so proud to support this event as it showcases true leadership, teamwork and fighting spirit,” KordaMentha Real Estate managing partner, Berrick Wilson, said.

“The women raced in incredibly challenging conditions on Saturday, and unfortunately the race was marred by a large crash which brought down about 20 riders, including Nicole Frain. Nicole was seriously injured with a broken collarbone and elbow, and possibly requiring some reconstructive work on her hand. We wish Nicole the very best with her recovery and commend these elite athletes for their strength and resilience as they pursue their goals.”

KordaMentha is proud to support a women’s team in this historic race, the first UCI Women’s World Tour event in the Southern Hemisphere, and provide these young cyclists an opportunity to ride against the world’s best racers. The KordaMentha women’s team finished well, placing 7th in the Teams Classification field of 12.

In her first World Tour race, Ruby Roseman Gannon showed grit and determination finishing strongly with 4th position in the Gerry Ryan Best Young Rider category and placing 12th overall. A very bright future lies ahead for Ruby and her teammates.

“The men’s race was hard fought in dry but windy conditions. The team was aggressive right from the start with teammates Connor Leahy, Rudy Porter and Carter Turnbull making the first break before being caught by the peloton. Not satisfied with that Carter Turnbull and Elliot Schultz attacked again and got away to a 6 minute lead at one point in the race before the peloton reeled them in again,” Berrick said.
Rising star Carter Turnbull won the Mapei Sprint Classification and topped the Swisse King of the Mountain leaders board with an impressive 13 point final result.

Berrick noted the teamwork and stamina displayed. “We are incredibly proud of both the women’s and men’s team who showed real grit and determination in impressive performances this weekend. I have no doubt many of them will go on to achieve great things in the sport of cycling,” he said.

KordaMentha also proudly sponsors teams in the Jayco Herald Sun Tour, which commences this Wednesday 5 February 2020 and is sure to bring even more excitement to the summer of cycling.
