Ban Chuan was the Head of Restructuring with one of the big four accounting firms.
He has been in the Restructuring business for close to 30 years and had managed a diverse portfolio.
He is a well regarded personality in the insolvency practice circle and was recently featured in a Channel News Asia television interview on judicial management and other forms of insolvency administration. He was also a panel speaker at the 2002 Insol Conference held in Beijing.
Working in the capacity of an Independent Special Consultant, Ban Chuan has to date been accredited with the successful restructuring of numerous cross-border assignments involving distressed businesses in the region. He has experience in the business re-organisation legal processes in Malaysia and Thailand. In his duties, he has also been involved with the litigation processes in various jurisdiction including the USA, UK, Australia, China, India, Costa Rica, Honduras and UAE.
As a Special Consultant, Ban Chuan works closely with the distressed company and its financiers in order to preserve the business as a going concern. This involves strategising and streamlining the company’s operations, divestment of non-core and under performing assets, reducing bank and trade exposures to manageable levels as well as monitoring and managing their cash flows. He has also advised companies on retrenchment issues and has assisted them in their negotiations with trade unions on severance matters.
